4 DIY Carpet & Floor Pet Stain Removal Tips from Our Raleigh Pet Stain Removal Expert

Having pets is one of the great pleasures of life, but it is also the source of numerous pet stains that occur, no matter how hard you try to avoid them. Whether you have a dog, a cat, a lizard or one of the many “pocket pets,” it is likely you will have to remove pet stains from carpet at one time or another. A variety of methods can be used to remove these accidental stains, but the odds are you will have to call in one of the professional Raleigh carpet cleaners to remove stains from carpet and return to its normal condition.

1. Immediate Clean-up
The most important tip for cleaning pet-related accidents and stains is to clean up the mess as quickly as possible, removing all solid matter and absorbing wet matter with a clean, white cloth. However, pets often find ways to “hide” their accidents, so you may not find the problem for several hours or days. In this case, clean up the mess as soon as you find it and apply additional cleaning methods immediately.

2. Club Soda
Club soda is an old standby for carpet stain removal. However, you must remember it is only effective while the soda is still effervescent. Blot the area well to absorb the urine. Then, pour club soda over the area. Once it stops fizzing, blot the area well. Repeat several time, if necessary.

3. White Vinegar and Water
Blot the soiled area gently with paper towels to dry it. Then, mix a solution of equal parts of white vinegar and cold water. Dab generously over the area. Blot the area well to dry it, and then allow it to dry thoroughly. Vacuum when completely dry. The vinegar will also help to deodorize the area. The harsh vinegar smell will dissipate in a few hours.

4. Baking Soda and Vinegar
Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and can be used to remove pet stains from carpet, as well. Remove solid matter and absorb any liquid with paper towels. Pour baking soda directly on the area, and then, pour a small amount of vinegar on top of the baking soda. The solution will fizz, helping to remove the stain. Allow the solution to remain on the area until it stops fizzing. Leave the solution on the carpet until it dries, usually a day or two. Then, you can vacuum up the residue of powder.

These tips use only natural ingredients that are harmless to pets. If the stain remains, you may need professional carpet stain removal from Raleigh carpet cleaners. Click here to schedule your professional carpet cleaning appointment today.
